The IKEA store in Romania has been the 253th to open, in the 35th country, on 21 March 2007. By March 2010 it was operated by local franchise system, and then IKEA Romania became part of IKEA Group. The store covers a total area of 26,000 square meters developed on two floors. The first floor includes the presentation area, while the ground floor hosts the self-service area, where items can be collected. Also, the store has 1,500 parking places, 4,975 sq m sidewalk (self locked blocks) and 4,504 sq m concrete plarforms for heavy traffic.
IKEA is a company with Swedish origins founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad, which, on 31 August 2012 to, held 338 stores in 40 countries or territories, of which 39 are franchise stores owned by companies other than IKEA Group.
